Nerfs Incoming Part 2
By Uncleleo | January 9, 2010
Well at least Blizz is giving us something to talk about!
Here are the recent changes to Rogues (Specifically Mutilate Rogues);
- The base damage bonus from Hunger for Blood has been reduced from 10% to 5%.
- The bonus damage rogues gain from attack power for poisons has been decreased. This applies to Instant Poison, Deadly Poison, and Wound Poison.
Since it’s so early with the change I’m not exactly sure what this does to Mutilate Rogues (besides bringing our DPS closer to combat). Hopefully we’ll get some answers about the changes and see if this means big changes to gemming, rotation and other things.

I wonder if these changes will result in respecs and regems. Since HfB is now only 5%, perhaps its dps boost will be out weighed by putting that point into some other talent. Too bad they didnt just make it passive and always active, to go along with the 10% –> 5% nerf. For shorter fights, it doesnt seem like it is worth wasting the energy to even start it. better off getting in an extra mutilate or envenom.
With attack power’s contribution to poison damage being reduced, perhaps all those 40 AP gems should be replaced by haste.
looks like we need a spreadsheet revision…

It would be nice if they would change the tooltip at some point. The thing still says 15% on it. /fail
I have done my research on dumping HfB for some other talent. But I can’t seem to find a place to put that one point that would make a difference. We are not far enough into the combat tree to help and the Opportunity talent won’t help as much as HfB does at 8% (with Glyph).
